How to plan the schedule to comply with typical CAO rules for rest and breaks?

When configuring the schedule in a job posting or in an offer, be precise about start and end times per shift and the number of working days. As a general baseline under Dutch labour law and most CAOs: allow a minimum of 11 hours between the end of one shift and the start of the next, include a break of at least 30 minutes for shifts longer than 5.5 hours, and avoid scheduling more than five or six consecutive working days without a rest day. Note you can add multiple time blocks per day and record unpaid break time accurately, which supports compliant hour tracking. Always verify exact figures in your applicable CAO, as sector-specific agreements may set stricter limits.
